John Hollis host of Rockers in Recovery  WWNN 1470 AM Radio is packed full of musical guests talking about the upcoming free concert in Pompano Beach Florida on February 12, 2011 at the Sober Hotel called the Seaside Inn.

John who is in recovery from addiction stopped using December 31, 2006 when he had a moment of clarity while living under a bridge on 79Th Street located in Miami Florida. He was under that bridge on and off for 13 years. In his words crack cocaine and alcohol were his higher power and they made his day to day life choices.

Losing his family and friends to addiction the only people that hung in was his girl friend of 17 years and friends in 12 step meetings, which he would go to only to panhandle and get fed by recovering addicts that understood he was in a life and death struggle that could go either way. Towards the end of his active addiction John had developed staff infection on his arms and was told by doctors he was only days from death if he had not had medical treatment that lasted for a week in the Delray Medical Center.

You would think this was his wake up call but no he left the hospital and went back to Miami where he continued to use for another nine months.  December 31,2006  “I was sitting on the side of a building on 79Th street called The Little River Club a 12 step club house that saved my life more times then not in 13 years on the streets, and it all flashed before me that no one had done this to me. I was filled with years of resentments and hate and those moments began to not seem so important in the light of my life. That day  I began my journey to a new life with the help of many friends and what began my awakening to what I know now was God”

Three years ago John Hollis started a 5 hour radio show called Holistic Lifestyles Radio Show and All about Addiction Recovery Show which was on Friday-Sunday on WWNN AM 1470. Now in his third year on the air on the same radio station called the Holistic Lifestyles Radio Network.

John now produces 16 hours per week of talk radio some shows he does him self like Rockers In Recovery a show that has broadcasted live from all over the country though WWNN Radio AM 1470.  Other shows like That Sci-Fi Show John deals with the production and air time while Host’s Joey Donovan , Chris West and Sci-Fi Amy get to play out their vision of the only south Florida Sci-Fi Show on the AM radio air waves. Here are all the shows he currently produces Rockers In Recovery, Holistic Lifestyles Radio Show, East Coast Music Scene, That Sci-Fi Show, The Shift Guru, The Legal Hour, and Defend Your Money Radio.

John is grateful for his life today and this is what he had to say about it; “If it was not for God and the people that he has put in my life I would be dead I believe. The radio show has helped me to share the vision of hope to others that are suffering from life issues like addiction and depression.  I can tell you it has been a long road on radio Lori and I at times have had zero money in the account and some how all the bills get paid.  I’ve been taught blind faith is good in times of fear and unrest.

If it wasn’t for our sponsors over the past three years like R.Scott Armbuster, Robert Gluck, Trip Bechert, John Giordano, Ed Canitelli, Ben Brafmen, Kim Martin and our longest sponsor Chris D. We would not be here. They believed in our vision and with out them we would be nothing. I have made 3000 phone calls for sponsorship for this vision of ours and these folks stepped up when we had no listening base three years ago. God did for us by putting these folks in our lives and I’m grateful to all of them. In the last year I’ve had people come to me and say “John I just picked up my year sober and clean and it started by listening to your shows”. This is when I understood that this is God not me sharing his message though all of us.

The up coming concert on February 12, 2011 with Ricky Byrd, Johnny B. and the Road Dogs• Rhetoric• Thrown Alive• and Keep Coming Back is a free concert event to help support new people in early recovery that need to see you can have fun without the need of any type of mood or mind altering substance. I’m grateful I can pick up the phone and have all of us come together to show our love of our recovery and our higher powers whom ever that may be for each individual.

John’s Holistic Lifestyles Radio Network productions can be listened to on WWNN AM 1470 Radio on Monday – Friday 2PM & 10 PM EST for a hour each show. Saturday 3PM-6PM EST and Sunday from 9PM- Midnight EST. He is also streaming on Blog Talk Radio and WWNN Radio streamer worldwide.

When I asked John what’s next for him and the network he said “Thanks to all who are involved in this undertaking I believe our message of hope for the hopeless is being carried not just though the people but though music, so “stay tuned more will be reveled”.

Well John that’s what I will be doing thanks to all who are involved in this undertaking because of it there is hope for the hopeless.  If you would like to contact John email him at john@rockersinrecovery.com. We look forward to seeing what Holistic Lifestyles Radio Network Does next.
