4:45-6:45 PM EST

Singer-songwriter-guitarist Ricky Byrd’s new CD which he describes as “one part acoustic soul, one part rock n roll” -marks quite a departure from his days with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Byrd is still rail-thin, still has the haystack of hair and a truckload of attitude, but maturity has served to deepen and expand his talent. Byrd says that the work on his latest project with producer Ray Kennedy “is a natural progression. I went back to the college of musical knowledge, listening to the songs that still, to this day, raise the hair on my arms. Digging deep, trying to find the secret ingredient, studying the craft of songwriting. Now I feel like I’ve got a pretty cool batch of my own songs and I’m ready to show them to the world.”

Billboard described Byrd’s last effort, a limited edition live CD called, with typical Byrd-esque humor, “Tough Room This World”: For many, Ricky Byrd needs no introduction. For others, a brief step back in time may be needed. After…Byrd parted ways with the Blackhearts (he) found himself collaborating with the likes of Roger Daltrey (and) Ian Hunter.

Apparently, others discovered what Jett had known all along: Byrd is one accomplished musician, singer and songwriter.” In fact, Jett and Daltrey (on his solo release “Rocks In The Head”) are among the many artists who have cut covers of Byrd’s material he’s had over 45 of his songs recorded by others — and his music has also been featured on television and in films.

Download Ricky Byrd’s new single “Broken Is A Place” to a CD and bring it with you to the The Memorial Day Weekend Free Concert Saturday May 28, 2011. Ricky will signing the downloaded CD’s at 6:30 PM EST.

His level of involvement has ranged from playing bass, keyboards, and/or guitar, to adding vocal harmonies, singing lead, and contributing as a songwriter, to producing entire albums, as he did with the Meat Loaf VH-1 Storytellers CD, released in 1999. There isn’t much he hasn’t done in his 25 years in the music industry. Visit Kasim at his website at: http://www.kasimsulton.com/

Richie Supa is an American songwriter and guitarist best known for his work with Aerosmith and Richie Sambora.

Richard Supa released several albums under his own name, including “Supa’s Jamboree” (1971, Paramount 6009), “Homespun” (197?), “Lifelines” (1976, Epic PE34277) and “Tall Tales” (1978, Polydor PD-1-6155). Richard’s song “Stone County Wanted Man”, which appeared on the “Supa’s Jamboree” album, was recorded by Johnny Winter for his “Saints and Sinners” album.

A longtime friend of Aerosmith, he has made a number of musical contributions to the band and has offered moral support. He temporarily replaced Joe Perry when he left the band in 1979 until a replacement was found. Additionally, he helped co-write several songs, including the hits “Chip Away the Stone” (1978), “Lightning Strikes” (1982), “Amazing” (1993), and “Pink” (1997), among others.

Supa co-wrote most of the songs on Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora’s second solo album Undiscovered Soul. He also wrote the song “Misery” for the album Missundaztood by Pink, on which Aerosmith’s singer Steve Tyler and Richie Sambora collaborated and co-wrote the song “My Interpretation” from Mika‘s debut album Life in Cartoon Motion. Community Redevelopment Project

by Holistic Lifestyles Radio on May.20, 2011, under Home

SUNRISE, Fla. – Cannatelli Builders is pleased to announced that its consortium partner, the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) in Lake Worth, has been awarded a federal grant worth $23.3 million for renovating homes in a targeted area. The grant is specifically meant for use in purchasing and refurbishing some 130 residential properties within the city center.

As part of the agreement, the CRA together with its 20 non-profit partners and contractors should spend the amount within a fixed period. Half of the money should be spent in a period of two years while all necessary purchases should be completed in three years time.

Lake Worth Mayor Rene Varela is grateful and enthusiastic over this development saying that although the project is quite ambitious, they are positive about doubling or even tripling the investment. He expressed confidence that more private capital will come in to this home makeover project. City Commissioner Scott Maxwell himself echoed the same sentiment.

One of the major reasons why Lake Worth acquired a huge grant from the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) was due to its high rate of vacancy and foreclosures, a criteria covered under the agency’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The increase in the number of unoccupied and foreclosed homes was attributed mainly to the huge drop in home values at the height of the global recession last year.

In the target area alone where the CRA will focus its renovation efforts, there are currently 1,764 homes in place with about 130 of them in foreclosure and 206 in pre-foreclosure. However under the grant program, many of these properties will benefit from the rehabilitation works and many low income families will be able to acquire homes at a more affordable rate.

Specifically, the Lake Worth home makeover program has five objectives. These are to buy and rehabilitate 75 homes for resale; buying and renovating 25 properties for rentals; demolishing 10 homes that are no longer deemed in good condition; establishing a land bank of 30 lots that will eventually be developed into housing and providing incentives to law enforcement officers. The renovated homes and properties for resale and rentals will then go to buyers earning 50 percent and 120 percent or less of the median income in the area.

For their part, non-profit partner Adopt-a-Family of the Palm Beaches will sell homes to buyers eligible in its required income bracket while Habitat for Humanity plans to renovate homes and use some of the lots to build more new homes for people who meet certain income criteria.

The CRA’s executive director Joan Oliva also revealed their Cultural Renaissance Program still covered by the Lake Worth grant. This aims to bring in artists into the city as a way to encourage more business activities and maintain safe and sound neighborhoods.

As a consortium partner, Cannatelli Builders will be involved in the architectural design and construction process of the homes to undergo refurbishment. Being a trusted and proven contractor, the company is capable of managing all types of home remodeling projects putting emphasis always on the quality of their work.

Crossroads Centre Antigua a Recovery Retreat

History Of Crossroads Centre, Of Antigua

A letter from our founder, Mr. Eric Clapton
For many years I have visited Antigua, the beautiful Caribbean island located in the heart of the West Indies. Antigua has always been a special refuge – a safe place, a serene place where one can begin the process of healing from even the most devastating events and life situations.

As a recovering addict and alcoholic, many people over the years spoke with me about the problems associated with drug and alcohol abuse on the island. Subsequently, around 1993, I began to speak with more and more people about the possibility of founding a Centre on the island for the treatment of drug and alcohol addiction. There was certainly a need, and so the dream and the vision were born.

My vision was to create a Centre of the highest caliber to treat people of the Caribbean and throughout the world. The Centre would be staffed with experienced and internationally recognized professionals. The cost of treatment would be held to the lowest possible level, ensuring affordability and accessibility. And most importantly, this non-profit Centre would provide treatment scholarships for people of the Caribbean region and around the world.

Well, this vision became a reality and Crossroads opened its doors to the world in 1998. Since then it has quickly developed into an internationally recognized Treatment Centre of Excellence, providing services to individuals and their families suffering from the devastating effects of addiction.

Crossroads is like no other Treatment Centre. It is the perfect place to begin the road of recovery and utilizes a combination of effective therapies to address addiction and recovery, while capturing the spiritual serenity that many have found unique to Antigua. Within the serene, healing atmosphere individuals participate in a structured 29-day residential 12 step based program that allows clients to experience a whole person wellness approach to recovery.

We believe that the majority of individuals suffering from addiction have the capacity for recovery if given the proper foundation to begin their journey. At Crossroads we help provide that foundation.

Sincerely,

Erics Signature

Eric Clapton

All Inspirational Throw Pillows $44.00

Do not change your beliefs because you want other people to change theirs.

God Pillow

Change your beliefs because your new beliefs announce more accurately who you are.

Yet even as you change, do not be surprised if other people change, and if the world around you changes. For the change in you will act as a catalyst in producing change in others. Not because you have sought to produce change in others, but, more probably, because you have not.

People do not change because they are told to change. People may temporarily alter their behavior because they have been told to do so by those who have power over them, but that is not real change. That is merely a surface shift of outward demeanor. Inner truth has not shifted. As soon as the power over them has been lifted, or can no longer be exerted, people’s behavior returns to that which is motivated by their inner truth.

Prayer: Lord, help me change my thoughts and actions, Guide me to find your voice in the quiet time of my day. Help me find my inner truth, with your help so I can of maximum service to you, myself and others.

Relationships are the Primary Meal

Carol Harblin (CHHC)

Pre-teen and teenage girls do not need any more help having body image disturbances. We need to encourage authenticity and attaining a true self. Of course it is nice to feel good having a body that is in shape, but it we should not base our existence on our outward appearances.

The new Shape-Up sneakers are causing an uproar today in the media. They are being marketed to pre-teen girls and teen girls via cartoon commercials on the TV channel Nick. These commercials are sending messages to these impressionable girls to look like these skinny girls on TV in stead of appreciating themselves for who they are and embracing their unique body image.

It is important to be active. I am the first person to tell a person the importance of walking and being active outside or in a gym or with a sport; however, at the same time, we should not knock ourselves out trying to fit that societal image just to please others and the status symbols.

When we try to please others to fill these roles and images we are setting ourselves up for disappointment and possibly an eating disorder or even a chemical addiction.

The Shape-Ups for girls are only marketed to girls….but why not boys? Don’t we want to see them shape up too? If these shoes are meant to help reduce that childhood obesity then let’s market them for boys too. But first and foremost, it’s not about the special shoes…it’s about portion control and staying active. Do not portion out adult size portions to your kid and expect them to clean their plate. Kids stomachs are much smaller than an adults.

The idea that the marketing was slanted toward girls also makes it somewhat sexist too! It’s almost telling us and the children to maintain that image or you won’t be liked anymore.

Girls are going to look at the fashion magazines and teen girl magazines soon enough – it’s human nature….we all perused those magazines. What’s important is that they know enough to NOT compare themselves to those airbrushed images.

Learn to love who we are and appreciate our friends and people around us for who and what they are.

I was lucky enough to be part of a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame event in Cleveland last weekend.I’m in the House band with Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel), Jeff Carlisi(38 Special), Jeff Adams(Starship), Rob Arthur (Peter Frampton) and singer Tabitha Fair.

We’ve been doing this every year except one since 2006, and have had the pleasure to back up a bunch of great artists over the years, but baby this year was it!!! Not only did we play with Darlene Love, Chuck Jackson, Ronnie Spector and Tears for Fears lead singer Curt Smith…but the one and only Mavis Staples. Mavis Staples I said!! Talk about a Ray of Light.

First off when she came to sound check she remembered all of our names, which is not the case for most artists we play with. Then she teased me about looking like a young Dylan who she dated in the 60’s..just a sweetheart. The room lit up when she walked in. We did 3 tunes with Mavis..”The Weight”, “Wrote a Song for everyone” and I’ll take you there!!

When she started “I’ll take you there” I looked around and everyone on stage(including me) had tears in there eyes. Mavis was testifyin’.. and this was just sound check..lol.

Before the show I went up to her dressing room to say how much it meant to this long time sober lad to play with someone as spiritual as she and we talked for about a 1/2 hr. I walked out of there floating on air. Just a joy to be around. The show itself was better than great and it is an experience I’ll never forget. I get to do all these cool things because I’m sober, show up and can be trusted to do a good job. Grateful, Sober and Ready to Rock I am!!!

The Soul and Ego Out of Alignment

by hollis on May.16, 2011, under Home
Out of Alignment

Queen of the UniverseWhen the Soul and Ego are out of alignment, the life is lived in the normal format of the culture. Currently, the vast majority of souls living an earth experience live the experience when the Soul and the Ego are out of alignment. For the most of those souls, life appears to be dull and predictable in a fashion only limitation and lack can create. Dull and predictable in that limitation and lack are predictable – are the givens in a lifetime and in a life. For, without the Soul to create new and different and magical, the Ego must attach to the Soul. This limitation and lack can be both of the physical and of not the non-physical and, due to the lack of the physical, most individual who live only from the perspective of the Ego do not even realize they are not connected to the non-physical, the Divine.

The other position is one where the individual soul is living a life from the soul perspective. And, as beautiful and delightful as that may be, without the Ego to create, the individual is left in a place of lack from the perspective of the physical. And, as others who are not connected to the Divine (living from a position of Ego) see this lack, they disengage even more fully from the possibility of connecting with their Soul – for fear they will become like those only connected with their Soul.

The goal, if any individual chooses, is to find and live the balance between Soul and Ego – and to have the Ego willing and ready to accept what the Soul brings forth from the Field of All Possibilities. And in that acceptance, to agree to all that the Soul has brought forth. Scary, isn’t it.

How much are attorney’s fees in a personal injury case in Florida?

by Holistic Lifestyles Radio on May.16, 2011, under Home

For most personal injury cases, the lawyer’s fees are 1/3 (33.3%) of any recovery up to $1 million and 40% if the case goes to trial. There are, of course, exceptions to this general rule, such as any claim against a governmental agency, in which the attorney’s fees are 25%, not 33.3%. The lawyer does not receive any fees from you unless he recovers money from the other side as a settlement of your personal injury claim.

If there is no recovery, there is no fee – it is that simple. You do not have to have a single penny to receive full and complete, legal representation in a personal injury matter. If you are going to pay the same fee anyway, why not hire a lawyer who has been practicing personal injury law for over twenty years? In, my opinion, it would not make much sense to hire a lawyer with less experience, especially if you are going to pay the exact same contingency fee anyway.

What is Centering Prayer

by Holistic Lifestyles Radio on May.11, 2011, under Home

All Inspirational Throw Pillows $44.00

Centering prayer as a discipline is designed to withdraw our attention from the ordinary flow of our thoughts. We tend to identify ourselves with that flow. But there is a deeper part of ourselves.

God Pillow

This prayer opens our awareness to the spiritual level of our being. This level might be compared to a great river on which our memories, images, feelings, inner experiences, and the awareness of outward things are resting.

Many people are so identified with the ordinary flow of their thoughts and feelings that they are not aware of the source from which these mental objects are emerging. Like boats or debris floating along the surface of a river, our thoughts and feelings must be resting on something.

They are resting on the inner stream of consciousness, which is our participation in God’s being. That level is not immediately evident to ordinary consciousness. Since we are not in immediate contact with that level, we have to do something to develop our awareness of it. It is the level of our being that makes us most human. The values that we find there are more delightful than the values that float along the surface of the psyche.

We need to refresh ourselves at this deep level every day. Just as we need exercise, food, rest and sleep, so also we need moments of interior silence because they bring the deepest kind of refreshment. pg 35 Open Mind, Open Heart, Thomas Keating.

Relationships are the Primary Meal

Carol Harblin (CHHC)

When it is Mother’s Day, what is it that we all think about – besides honoring our moms?

We think about how we can treat them in a way that is relaxing or with some sort of honor.

Many moms get breakfast in bed or go out to a brunch special….they get massages or flowers and other sweet presents too.

Why not give mom a flower or something nice every day? Why do we only think about self-care or mom-care one day a year? Whether we play board games with our mom, or play cards, or share a meal….it’s enriching to connect with our mom (and parents) on any given day.

If we can bring back the family meal at home then why not bring back honoring parents and grandparents every day by just being with them?

I know it’s hard to always connect because life throws is a metric wrench in with our SAE wrenches and nuts….but we still have to figure how to work it.

Don’t we love it when people come to us and share with us after a long time? Just think how others will feel when we come to them? Human contact and sharing is more valuable than any gift or dinner.

Electronic mail, snail mail, texting, phone calls, are all good to have and thank goodness we have these modes of communication….but physical human contact is very special an meaningful. No photo can ever capture its essence and its warmth. That connection and the feeling stays in our hearts and our souls. It’s the bond that connects and stays with us.

Here’s your prescription for healing your soul: Take a hug at least four times a day.
Prescription for your heart and productive longevity: Have a heart-to-heart conversation at least two times a day.
Prescription for a strong soul: Have a belly laugh one to two times a day.

Share the love.
Strengthen our bonds.

Do not leave your future to chance, let your Florida personal injury attorney Robert E. Gluck, P.A. and his team of personal injury professionals help you find the answers you need to make informed decisions, which could have a lasting impact on your future.

Experience

Upon graduating from the University of South Florida with Honors, with an Undergraduate Degree in Political Science, Mr. Gluck, attended the University of Miami School of Law, during which time clerked for Janet Reno, who was the State Attorney in Dade County, Florida at the time. Mr. Gluck received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1989 and graduated Cum Laude (top 10% of his class). Mr. Gluck also was the Associate Editor of the Entertainment and Sports Law Review and was the school mock trial champion and represented the University of Miami in the National Mock Trial Competition, which he came in second place, nationally. Upon being admitted to the Florida Bar, Mr. Gluck began his law career as an Assistant State Attorney for Janet Reno, prosecuting complex criminal cases. While an Assistant State Attorney for Janet Reno, Mr. Gluck learned much about the complexities of practicing law and he remains grateful for that experience. During his tenure over the next several years, Mr. Gluck worked for Friedman and Associates, P.A., a large Florida personal injury firm in North Miami. During his tenure with the firm however, Mr. Gluck discovered that such a large organization often falls short when it comes to providing service to its’ clients on a personal level. Therefore, in 1998, he made the decision to start his own personal injury practice and founded Robert E. Gluck, P.A.

Over the years Mr. Gluck has built his practice on the belief that personal injury victims need a Florida lawyer who is aggressive, determined and accessible. His philosophy, along with his sterling reputation with defense attorneys and insurance adjusters, has given his firm the edge in obtaining large settlements or verdicts. Through memberships in the Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Florida Bar he is connected to a wealth of knowledge and is in touch with Court decisions as they occur.

If you have a case that falls outside his area of expertise, Mr. Gluck will provide quality referrals and work with those lawyers to insure that you receive the same kind of quality service clients have come to expect from Robert E. Gluck, P.A. He likes to refer to his firm as “home base”, where clients can contact him at any time regarding any legal matter. He will evaluate your situation and, if he cannot assist you, he will bring in other lawyers for the appropriate legal representation.

A Place to Find Answers to Difficult Questions, No Matter What Question You May Have

Mr. Gluck understands that finding a Florida personal injury attorney can sometimes be a bit overwhelming – even intimidating. That is why he prefers to think of his personal injury law firm as the sort of place where people can find the personal attention and one-on-one atmosphere that they would expect from a close friend or member of their own family.

Mr. Gluck also understands that personal injury law is very complex, involving tough decisions that carry lasting consequences. He listens to your concerns, provides the guidance that you need to navigate the intricate maze of “what ifs” and helps you find the answers to difficult questions.

Looking at Both Sides

Mr. Gluck has built his practice into one of the most successful in South Florida, in part by looking at each individual case from both sides of the fence. In particular, his knowledge of the insurance industry helps him anticipate and respond to issues in a proactive manner, saving precious time while maximizing resources on behalf of his clients. To that end, the Law Firm of Robert E. Gluck, P.A. has assembled a team of professionals that includes seasoned paralegals with a combined experience in excess of 50 years.

With this dynamic team in place, nothing is left to chance and important issues are given the sort of attention needed to insure a successful outcome on his clients’ behalf.

Call Robert E. Gluck Before You Make Important Decisions

Give him a call before you speak to the insurance company. The call is free and so is the initial consultation. In fact, Mr. Gluck works strictly on a contingency basis, meaning he does not get paid unless your case is settled or a judgment is obtained in a Court of Law. You will incur no out-of-pocket expenses, whether you win or lose the case. If you need a doctor and do not know who to see for the type of injury you have suffered, Mr. Gluck will suggest physicians who will bill your insurance company or obtain payment at the conclusion of your case.

Do not rely on the advice of non-professionals without legal experience. Your “Uncle Harry” may have your best interest at heart, yet your future is much too important to leave in the hands of someone other than a qualified legal professional. Each case is different and therefore comparisons by friends and family will only complicate matters and leave your frustrated.

Transportation can be provided to and from Mr. Gluck’s office at no charge and consultations can be arranged in your home or hospital room, if you cannot make it to the office.

Mr. Gluck has recently purchased an office condominium and the Firm has moved its’ primary offices to the Medical, Arts Professional Building at 333 N.W. 70th Avenue, just around the corner from Plantation City Hall. This location is easily accessible from I-75, I-595, I-95 and the Florida Turnpike. Mr. Gluck is also available for consultation in Miami, Dade and Palm.

4:30-6:30 PM EST
