Rhetoric blends rock ‘n’ rhythms !!

Rhetoric has gone from rocky start to rock solid.

A rotating lineup led to some bumpy beginnings for the North Broward-based band, formed in 2008. But change has been a good thing, leading to a permanent crew who’s formed a tight bond and an equally tight sound.

“It’s a good, comfortable fit,” frontman Rocket Miceli said. “The three of us, it’s like it’s meant to be.”

Rocket supplies lead vocals and guitar for the alternative/grunge group, with bassist Jorge “Dread” Peres and John “JP” Porpora on drums. The trio has created a cohesive unit, blending rock rhythms with blues, funk, jazz and ska.

It’s been a totally unexpected ride for Rocket.

At the group’s first show, they took fourth place out of 12 entrants in a Fort Myers battle of the bands competition.

There were still some kinks to work out, however.

Now, everything’s gelling. “We’re like brothers,” Dread said.

The guys have cut back on performing to record a self-titled debut disc, due to drop this summer or early fall.

After the album’s release, Rocket said the group will return to their hectic show schedule, including their regular gigs at the American Rock Bar in Deerfield Beach and Tobacco Road in Miami.

VIII Days Clean

Starting June 16, 2010 Every Wednesday we will be headlining “Rockers in Recovery” bands that do great music and carry the message of hope like many artists of old and new are doing each day. “Rockers in Recovery” is a show to hear new releases or to hear what bands or musicians in recovery have been up to. This hour is dedicated to news and interviews in the rock and roll industry and the world of recovering bands or musicians.

We look forward to having a great line up each week:

On June 16, 2010 at 10PM EDT we have Ate DaysClean

Somewhere between heavy metal, 90’s grunge and the blues, exists VIII DAYS CLEAN. Four guys who were once homeless, drug-addicted, alcoholics VIII DAYS CLEAN have proven that anything is possible. The band draws influences from a tradition of Northwest rockers that includes bands like Alice in Chains and (other big band). Other influences include Danzig, Nine Inch Nails, The Cult and Marilyn Manson.

“VIII DAYS CLEAN’S new album, Angels of Nothing, is dark, disturbing and utterly brilliant”.

-John Larson, Tacoma Weekly

Relentless marketing, recording and epic live performances have established VIII DAYS CLEAN as one of the most sought after bands in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Featured local industry showcases and events include KING5 NEWS(NBC Affiliate) Best of Western Washington Bands Contest (4th place out of 460 bands)…They were inducted into the coveted KISW 99.9 FM Hall of Fame…Performed at The Fallen Officer Benefit with KZOK 102.5 FM at EMP(Experience Music Project).

In the national spotlight, VIII DAYS CLEAN has earned the title “America’s Recovery Band” and has been band of the month on Recovery 101 Radio and the 12 step Gazette.

VIII DAYS CLEAN’s video “Spoonful Of Jesus” was also the featured video of the month at Journey Magazine alongside last year’s PRISM award winner Richie Supa.

VIII DAYS CLEAN also just got their own chance to walk the Red carpet in Hollywood this April when they were nominated for 2010 PRISM Award for the song “Open Up”.

VIII DAYS CLEAN is currently in the running to open up for KISS in San Antonio as well as a supporting slot on the Warped tour.

They will be playing the Satsop River Rock Festival on July 31st with Wishbone Ash and Eric Burdon.

VIII DAYS CLEAN’S latest release”Angels of Nothing” has been described by some as “infectious”.
