Annie’s Call

Annie’s Call « Holistic Lifestyles Radio

Annie’s Call
by Holistic Lifestyles Radio on Apr.20, 2011, under Home
As you know, over the course of the last fifteen years; I spent hundreds of hours talking to clients and customers, doctors, clinicians and other counselors servicing all walks of life in a variety of fields. I have invested a great deal of emotional, physical, and financial resources as well. From a purely “business perspective,” there has been little to no ROI (Return on Investment); at least not financially.
So why do I keep it alive? Why is it still available and evolved into the Sound Pillow Sleep System? Because I believe that God places people on our path at the right time. In many cases, he sends them to us when we need them most. We just have to be willing to recognize and listen to the message. How does this apply to the Sound Pillow? This is the second installment in the Three Phone Calls series: Stories of my experiences with three unique individuals of which I had three profound conversations.
Annie’s Call – Yet another instance where I was at the office early, the voice mail system did not pick-up, so I had no choice, but to answer the phone (remember, I am not a morning person). I answered the phone, but before I could finish my professional “Good morning. Thank you for calling…”
“I just tried to kill myself.” – an exhausted female interrupted.
I was not sure what to say, so i responded “First, don’t do that. Second tell me what happened.” I am not trained in this area and just did not know what to do or say. So I stayed silent and listened. I listened to Annie tell me about her Tinnitus and how it is so loud and so bad, she had not slept in five years. And she just could not take it anymore. She just couldn’t cope without getting any real sleep. So she stepped out in front of a New York City bus. “But the damned thing stopped!” she said with some anger. She was so full of despair and hopelessness I just listened with tears streaming down my face. Then she told me how a friend, that she just so happened to see in the elevator, suggested she call me about the Sound Pillow. We spoke for about 45 minutes.
“Annie. I will make you a deal.” – I said. “If you promise not to do anything to hurt yourself and if you even think you might hurt yourself, you promise to call me first, I will send you a Sound Pillow, today.
No charge. You will have it tomorrow. But you have to promise and call me in two weeks. Deal?
Annie agreed.
About two weeks later I received a call from a very upbeat and happy individual. “You don’t know who this is. Do you? It’s Annie! Annie from New York!” – I was floored. This was not the same person I had spoken to just two weeks prior. That person was exhausted and so desperate she stepped in front of a city bus trying to end her life. But now, I could literally hear the smile on her face and joy in her voice.
“You’re sleeping. Aren’t you, Annie!” - I knew she was finally getting meaningful sleep.
As Annie told me about her new lease on life and what the Sound Pillow meant to her, the tears started streaming again. This time I was filled with joy and a bit overwhelmed by the success story unfolding. And I finally understood it. I got it! I understood what sleep really meant and the role the Sound Pillow played in helping people get a truly meaningful night’s sleep. And when we sleep, we heal both physically and mentally. I really understood it now. And the proof was talking to me on the phone.

The Early Morning Call About Meaningful Sleep

The Early Morning Call About Meaningful Sleep « Holistic Lifestyles Radio

The Early Morning Call About Meaningful Sleep

by Holistic Lifestyles Radio on Apr.13, 2011, under Home

The Sound Pillow has consumed a vast amount of my resources…Over the course of the last fifteen years; I spent hundreds of hours talking to clients and customers, doctors, clinicians and counselors servicing all walks of life in a variety of fields. I have invested a great deal of emotional, physical and financial resources as well.

So why do I keep it alive? Why is it still available and evolved into the Sound Pillow Sleep System? Easy. I believe that God places people in our paths at the right time. In many cases, He sends them to us when we need them most. We just have to be willing to recognize and listen to the message. What happened to me and the Sound Pillow? I crossed paths, over the phone, with three unique individuals and experienced three profound conversations.

The Early Morning Call came in early 2000. I had been working with the Sound Pillow for just over three years and was not getting anywhere with it. It seemed the only people that understood its potential for the sleep deprived, were Michelle and I. It was exhausting our very limited resources.

So I decided to “kill it.” I told Michelle I just couldn’t do it anymore and I said: “That’s it. I am killing it in the morning.” Those were my exact words….

The next morning, I was in the office early getting ready to shut down the Sound Pillow web site and send some emails to announce the end…My phone rang. I ignored it waiting for the Voice Mail system to pick-up as I really did not feel like talking to anyone as I felt defeated and I am not a morning person in the first place. But, the phone just kept on ring…I answered.

“This is Scott.”The Early Morning Call About Meaningful Sleep « Holistic Lifestyles Radio

“Is this Scott?” – Asked a rough male voice.

“That’s why I said this is Scott.” – Remember, I was NOT in a good mood.

You can’t kill the Sound Pillow!” he said emphatically.

—Deep Breathe. Long Silence.—

“You can’t kill the pillow. You have to keep it going!” He was emphatic.

I was beyond stunned and at a loss for words. He used the exact word I used the night before, in my bathroom, when deciding to “kill” the pillow. He did not say “You can’t – Stop it. Shelve it. Quit it.” Or use any other wording. He said “You can’t kill it.” Then I recognized what was happening and I listened.

I spoke with this gentleman for about 30 minutes. Along the way I asked why he made the call. He told me he was compelled to pick-up the phone, but was not 100% sure why other than to tell me how much the Sound Pillow was helping him and that he had to reach out and let me know. He also wanted to be sure others had the same opportunity to get the meaningful sleep he now experienced. And finally, how getting a good night’s sleep, “literally changed his life” – his words.

Later that morning, when Michelle walked into the office, I told her we were not killing the pillow. She smiled and said “What changed your mind?” — “Let me tell you about a phone call.” I replied.

A single phone call really can make a difference. Call Sound Pillow, today at 877-846-6488 and experience the life enhancing difference a meaningful night’s sleep can mean for you. Or visit us on the web @ www.SoundPillow.com

Relationships are the Primary Meal

Carol Harblin (CHHC)

I was watching Little House On The Prairie this weekend and one particular episode made me really stop and think. It was the episode when Laura and Almanzo are expecting their baby….but tragedy ensues their little home life.

First, Almanzo suffers a terrible illness that leaves him paralyzed and a hail storm wrecks his crop….
Then a tornado wipes out their house….

But let’s examine the positives. There may not seem like there is much to be happy about, but there is.

Almanzo’s physical paralysis and the crop disaster are a part of Almanzo’s depression…but all while he suffers, he has Laura’s presence and her prayers and faith as they get by.

Then the tornado wipes out their home and then Laura becomes emotionally paralyzed. It’s Laura’s turn to give up…and it’s Almanzo’s turn to step up and give her prayers and miracles.

Laura and Almanzo and the whole family present them with spiritual support and prayers. Faith is much more than a word to say, it’s the act of living each day with pro-active positive steps. Faith is not about isolating and giving up. Faith is about working hard and working with your loved ones.

Almanzo gave up trying to walk as long as things were done for him. But then he realized that he had to help himself to help his wife and baby. He could no longer feel sorry for himself. Laura needed him more than ever.

A marriage is built upon the equal strength of the wife and the husband. One hand washes the other. When the chips are down, the unity and the loving partnership enhances more.

Faith was alive and well in the Ingalls family. They never gave up on each other and the more tragedy fell upon Laura and Almanzo the more love was given. Faith helped Pa Ingalls and Almanzo rebuild their house. Faith supported their love. Love supported their faith.

Faith is pro-active as we keep walking our journey with positive loving steps.
