On the latest album Shortcut to the Center (produced by rock legend Ronnie Montrose), Jerry has styles that range from classic fusion, to reggae, to melodic rock, and to a style that can only be called ‘dan’. Players on the album are Northern California’s finest. Bruce Spencer, (now touring with Jackie Greene), plays with an amazing feel on this album. Marty Holland, who has played bass with a huge list of people including Lydia Pence of Cold Blood, Bill Kreutzman of the Grateful Dead, Dave Garibaldi and Lenny Williams of Tower of Power. Scott Reams on keys (currently touring with Benton Paul).

“…The Jerry Jennings Band was also quite enjoyable…This band played a nice mix of jazz-influenced rock with elements and influences ranging from Steely Dan, Pat Metheny, Weather Report, to more prog rock stuff like Gentle Giant, Zappa and Happy the Man.” – Progressive Ears

“Make that “Jammin” Jerry Jennings! One of the coolest local releases I’ve come across yet. Jerry is a great guitarist with an incredible feel and excellent tone. This recording ventures into the rock/fusion territory with some great performances all the way around a la Jeff Beck. Jennings has a songwriting style that speaks to the listener without words, only soundscapes of wonderful imagery that take you to a kool world…It’s a fresh album with a different turn at every track…” –Sac This Week

“With his latest release Shortcut to the Center, Jerry Jennings has proven that he is the heir apparent to such guitar legends as Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and David Gilmour. While Jennings is technically proficient on his instrument, he clearly understands that tone and feel count for everything. Thankfully, this is not another guitar CD that is wall to wall shredding and noodling, but instead features remarkably melodic performances that touch the heart and soul of the listener…The production duties were handled by guitarist Ronnie Montrose (who also contributed burning guitar trade-offs with Jerry on “One Blue Lady”). Highly recommended!” –Tim Morse, Music News Network

July 12th 2010 10 PM ET (7PM PT) “Rockers In Recovery” will be interviewing “Northwest Music Scene” which has grown into one of the largest music only networks in the northwest

My name is Glen C. and I am in Recovery,

I grew in Washington State near the Canadian border and early on in my life learned value of hard work and that has stuck with me ever since. Working on fishing boats in Alaska in my late teens, probably had something to do with my work ethic too!

I have loved most forms of music as far back as I can remember. Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Ernest Tubb, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins and many others from that era is what we listened to in our house. My love affair with Rock and Roll didn’t actually start until my late teens. Then I discovered FM radio and Van Halen! I spent many years going to concerts, listening to radio and devouring as much of this music as I could.
To this day, I still have a very wide variety of music that I listen too. My playlist can go from Black Sabbath to Brandi Carlile to classical music and back to Elvis, in a heartbeat.

A few years ago I was given the opportunity to get into a side of music I hadn’t experienced before. That side was promotions and marketing. I fell in love with the challenge of creating something out of nothing.

My site, the Northwest Music Scene has grown into one of the largest music only networks in the Northwest. We like to call it the digital equivalent to a gig poster. Through this site we have been able to expose some extremely talented people to others that would not normally have heard of them. Starting only four months ago the Facebook page is nearing 12,000 fans and nearly 6,000 on Myspace. Our brand new website will be launched soon so stay tuned for some exciting details about that.

My other venture is called Recovery Palooza. Because of my involvement with VIII Days Clean from the promotions side of the band I had the opportunity to see how lives were being affected in a positive way through music. I decided that I would like to do this in more than just the Northwest.

The first Recovery Palooza tour is going to happen in August of 2010. The tour is going to be paid for by VIII Days Clean and it will stretch the length of the West Coast and they will play with other recovering musicians in clean and sober venues along the way.
Recovery Palooza and VIII Days Clean is part of a global recovery movement. We aim to break the myth that recovery is boring and no fun. We have found just the opposite to be true!

I am also very excited to be a Co-Producer of Rockers in Recovery along with John Hollis. John has been extremely generous in including me on this most incredible journey…and you know what folks? We are just getting started. The best is yet to come!

You can find out more about Recovery Palooza and the Northwest Music Scene by looking us up on Facebook.

Dudley Taft New CD Review

Dudley Taft New CD Review

If you got a hankering to listen to some good old kick-ass blues/rock mixed with a dash of classic rock “Left For Dead”

On “Rockers In Recovery” tonight June 30Th at 10PM ET & 7PM PT live from WWNN 1470AM and streaming live around the world on the holistic Lifestyles Radio Network . We will be interviewing Dudley Taft who grew up in a country called the “Midwest”, where he learned the values of friendship, roots blues, rock ‘n’ roll and a good ear of corn.
Local guitar hero Rob Swaynie in Indianapolis taught Dudley the value of music theory interspersed with B.B King, Led Zeppelin and ZZ Top riffs. Taking his newfound skills with him, he founded the band “Space Antelope” with friend Trey Anastasio (of Phish Fame) in high school.
Dudley moved to Seattle in the summer of 1990, joining the Seattle band “Sweet Water”. After touring the states with “Monster Magnet”, “Candlebox” and “Alice in Chains”, and recording two albums for Atlantic he left the band to resurrect “Second Coming”. More touring followed with an album on Capitol records and a taste of success thanks to the single “Vintage Eyes” which made it to #10 on the Rock Radio charts. Older and wiser, Dudley has now turned his attention back to the roots of the music that inspired him to pick up the guitar. Dudley is also member of the KZOK band Spike and the Impalers.
Big, fat and loud are descriptives that got slapped around on the début album of Seattle’s rock and blues singer/songwriter Dudley Taft; pretty, soft and conservatively wired listeners need not apply.
“Left For Dead” is stacked with the Texan overtones of ZZ Top and SRV yet with an untypical innovative style and approach that gives this album the meat and potatoes to get a listener on the sonic train tracks and dancing till they pull into the station.
There is no question that Taft, his band and this album have passed through the deep mojo fires of the Seattle music culture infecting a blend of blues standards like Willy Dixon’s “Back Door Man” and “Seventh Son” and Taft’s original work like the album’s title track, “Left For Dead” which encapsulates the spirit of the NW blues with lyrics like “My body hit the mattress, but my soul hit the floor”.
The first tune out the gate is Taft’s “Ain’t No Game” which had me heading for my leather pants, boots and ready for a ride and by the last tune, also a Taft original, “If You’ll Come Home” I had to wonder if I wasn’t listening to the next Billy Gibbons or Joe Bonamassa.
If you are new to the name Dudley Taft, he is no upstart to say the least, he’s been rocking crowds for years with regional superstars Spike and the Impalers and it’s going to take a tornado to knock this showman off his game. So if it’s a feast of thick and beefy guitar tones or a stratospheric riff rock, blue note rocket ride this collection of NW styled blues tunes is a must have for any serious rock blues music collection.
